Carcassonne has got the second UNESCO World Heritage site – the medieval fortress town called La Cite. It’s ringed with 3km of ramparts and 52 towers. Inside the walls there is life on its own: cafes, souvenir shops, churches, restaurants, hotels and loads of tourists.
